Read them or get rid of them?

I have several books on my bookshelves that I hated reading.  Mostly they are books I had to read for AP Language or Literature in high school.  Honestly, with some of them I can't even remember the story, but I do remember hating them.

So.  The logical part of me says if I hated them I should get rid of them.  In most cases that would mean throwing them out since they are written in, highlighted, etc.  But!  Another part of me says that at 28 I'm a very different person than I was at 18, so maybe a new perspective would help me enjoy them?  On the other hand, do I really want to spend time re-reading books I didn't like?  I mean, I'm a fast reader so it wouldn't be a LOT of time, and I could quit if I still hated them, but is it worth it?

What do you think?  Trash them or give them a second chance?

  1. Give them a second chance. Or keep them until your kids need them :)

  2. I say read them - if you still hate it half way through, I'd toss 'em. I'm a "tosser" though.

  3. Trash! Are you really going to read them...or are they just going to sit on your shelf while you contemplate reading them and, instead, read books that are more appealing?
