I'm finally going to write about Hawaii! Probably not about the whole vacation in one post though. And I'm going to subject you all to like a hundred million pictures so consider yourself warned. We left from Houston on Thursday morning and got in to Honolulu Thursday afternoon (the benefit of a 5 hour time change.) Kalena traveled really well, she was a little fussy, but didn't really cry until we were driving in rush hour traffic in Honolulu. She was fine after we fed her though. We didn't really do anything except get settled on Thursday evening. We stayed in condos at Turtle Bay. I was a slacker and didn't take any pictures of our condo, fortunately Kari did. Although, there are no pictures of the room Brian and I stayed in because by the time she got around to pictures we'd already made a big mess of that room.
The kitchen in our condo. Our whole condo was newly remodeled by the way.
Living room. I wanted to bring that rug home with me, but I couldn't figure out how to get it in my suitcase.
Downstairs bedroom where Kirsta and Joe stayed.
Downstairs bathroom. The upstairs bathroom was pretty much the same only bigger.
Looking into the loft from the upstairs bedroom (where Brian and I had already strewn our stuff about by the time Kari took pictures.)
The beds in the loft. Nobody stayed there until the last couple nights (there was condo moving after several people left) when Kari and Jonathan stayed there. They slept on the same bed. Cause they're newlyweds. Awwww.
We went to bed pretty early because to us it felt 5 hours later. Unfortunately, Kalena doesn't understand time zones yet (even though we tried to explain) so she woke up bright eyed at 3:30 am, ready for the day. It took her pretty much the whole week to adjust.
Sadly, we missed out on the temple because people went Thursday morning before we got there and the rest of the trip was a little (ok, a LOT) over scheduled.
And that was day 1!

More Random Stuff
This is only tangentially* vacation related so if you're looking for stories about how awesome Hawaii was, this isn't it. They're still coming.
Whenever I go on vacation I take a book with me. In fact, I generally take two books so that if I'm not in the mood for one I can read the other, or if I get really ambitious and finish one I have another. For our trip to Hawaii though I thought-- Hey, I have a baby so I probably won't have much time to read. I'm just going to take one book. I'd been reading the Shannara series several months ago so I decided to take the next book for the series. I knew I'd read The Sword of Shannara so I picked up the next book and stuck it in my suitcase. And then I got it out the first day we were in Hawaii and realized that I'd already read it. (Here's where having another book would come in handy.) Whoops.
Fortunately Joe (my brother in law) informed me that my sister Kirsta had brought a couple books with her. She had A Prayer for Owen Meany which I had read, and Angela's Ashes which I had not. I opted for Angela's Ashes since I hadn't read it. Wow. Talk about depressing. I kept reading hoping life would get better for them and it just never did. And what made it even worse is that it's true! At lease if it were fiction I could believe that no one had it THAT bad. There are two more books that follow this one, and I am morbidly curious to find out what happens in the rest of his life. I'm just not sure I can handle that depressing a book again. I didn't know what I was getting into! So, if anyone wants to read something really depressing...
I'll post about the vacation soon. I promise.
*Bonus points to anyone who knows what a tangent line is. (Except for anyone who went to Mines. And Brian. I know you guys know.)

Two Months
Kalena had her two month check-up this morning. She is 24 and 1/4 inches long which puts her in the 95th percentile for height and she weighs 11 pounds 12 ounces which is the 75th percentile for weight. She had to get her shots today which was sad to watch. She's not much of a crier so it was really sad to see her cry so hard. Here she is with band-aids on her chubby little thighs.

We're Home!
I'll write a real post later, but for now, here's how Kalena enjoyed Hawaii.
Kalena asleep at Waimea falls.
Kalena asleep at the condo.
More sleeping at the condos.
Sleeping through water polo.
Asleep at Pearl Harbor.
Asleep at the International Market in Honolulu.
Kalena asleep at the Polynesian Cultural Center.
Sleeping through a drum show at the PCC. (She did eventually wake up and cry because the drums were so loud.)
Sleeping through the night show at the PCC.
Kalena asleep at the pool. She was not a fan of the water, by the way.
And last but not least, Kalena asleep at the airport. She also slept on the flights, but we didn't have the camera out. Really, she didn't sleep the whole time, it just became a theme and we went with it:) More to come! (Not more sleeping pictures, more real pictures, and some actual thoughts on the trip.)

Sleepy Time
In Between
Between sizes that is. As of almost 8 weeks I am not back down to my pre-pregnancy weight. Which is fine. I really didn't expect to be considering I gained one pound a week for the ENTIRE pregnancy. I figured 40 pounds would take a little time to lose.
Here's the problem: I fit into all my tops, but not any of my pre-pregnancy bottoms. So I'm still wearing my maternity bottoms. Which would also be fine, BUT we're going to Hawaii next week. All my maternity bottoms are pants. And I don't want to run around in Hawaii for 9 days wearing pants. So I've had to go buy some shorts that fit me now. This is annoying because at the rate I'm losing weight, these will only fit for the next 4 or 5 weeks. And then what am I supposed to do with them? They'll still be basically new so I won't want to get rid of them, but what's the point in keeping them? Just in case I need shorts in the months immediately following my next pregnancy, whenever that may be, if I'm even the same size? So yeah, it's irritating.
Now I'll probably get lots of comments that point out that-- Hello! I get to go to Hawaii! Maybe I should stop whining about shorts and be excited! And I am excited. Very excited actually; I love Hawaii and I get to see all my family again. Plus, there will be lots of people who want to watch the baby so I can do fun stuff. (Not that watching the baby isn't fun, but it's hard to snorkel while you're holding a baby.) I really can't wait to go.
But still, I'm annoyed about the shorts.
